The New Avengers!

Poster for our Group Work assignment, THE NEW AVENGERS! Haha
We feel funny and can't hide our laugh even during presentation.
That's a lots of funny things happen while doing this group work project.
We have to compose like the original character and adjust the lighting ,
Many funny 'BEHIND the SCENES' happen.
And this is the outcome . Haha. Hope you enjoy it.

Self-portrait!

Oh Yeah, my 1st ever self-portrait, using Pen-tool!
The original photos is like this
To create and explore the shadow and color of the skin actually i using quite some method:
Posterize it :
This is to get some layout of shadows 'pop out' so that i can create a more obvious shading, but i working with different layers so i reference both original pictures and posterized picture.
Like this, layers by layers to add different tone of shadings, colors.
When i am done with face and body featured part, i used Adobe Photoshop to edit my background to have a different media mixed together. I cut my background into 3 section, apply different textured on it and add some pop art colour so that the character will be more emphasis.
After all this, i used Adobe Bridge to adjust the colour saturation because the colour that i created is abit dull.

Before adjust the saturation

after adjust the saturation
The shading part and lighting part that i created using vector and pen-tool is still there, just the saturation become thicker and after that i use colour picker to create my colour scheme for this.So this is how i vectorise my own photo :D

WATCH OWL !

My 3rd assignment for applied illustration. Took me quite some times but i enjoy the process. The original art piece is credit to Andreas Pries. His textured work amaze me alot.
Andreas Pries artwork

So i chosen 1 of his work ,trace and recreate the textured part. I gain some precious experience doing this. At 1st i thought that i could use masking to do everything ,so i use lines and shape to create something like this.

But i failed, haha .The overall file become too HEAVY and AI work really really slow. And i have to MASKING everything. 'HEADCHE' . After that i tried to use draw lines by lines, and using alt to copy it. It's quite tiring also, because every lines direction and length is different .Finally i figure out a better way which is using continuous line, follow the direction instead of drawing one by one. It fasten up the process but we just have to make sure that the line that we do not want to show out follow exactly the shape of borders.
Sometimes reference other's work and try to remake it is fun. Because we will actually surprisingly learn something that we do not know before that. Just keep exploring different kind of work and refine your own style. Take your time. Btw, they are many tiny detail parts of the owl as well, check it out :D

My 1st assignment for applied illustration class

This semester i am taking applied illustration.
The 1st and 2nd class is not very hard for some of us since we had learn it last semester.
We were asked to create lines using pen tool, we know the ways pen-tool works but still it's not easy to get a perfect shapes.

Recall to the previous semester, using pen-tool really stress me a lot since i do not know how pen-tool work totally, they way i pulling it just like using the 'paint' brush, and the outcome end up very worse.
The image above is character that i created last semester, when i still do not really understand how pentool works, the line is overlapping and i don't even know how to control the outline. But someone told me that pen-tool is tricky but it's useful so i started to practice until i get used to it. And for our 1st assignment, twitter bird, we learn some new technique as well, like creating using layers by layers. Layers is powerful ,not only in Photoshop. And a simple shape like twitter bird need to adjust the pen-tool to get the most perfect shape that we can get.

Here's the outcome of 2 twitter bird. Learning a new thing is HARD, but practice makes perfection. If we get ourselves used to it, we can express out idea very well.
